Cylinder Head Parts List

Head Gasket

This is the part that sits between the cylinder head and the engine block. A head gasket is attached to the top of the engine case with bolts. It is usually made of steel metal. One of the main functions of a head gasket is to act as a seal between the cylinder head and the engine block. Prevents engine oil and coolant from leaking or mixing.Intake and exhaust gases too. Another important head gasket in cars is to maintain the pressure of the combustion gases. Without the gasket, both components can fail due to pressure loss. This in turn would cause the engine to significantly reduce its power.

Intake and exhaust ports

The intake and exhaust ports are an integral part of the cylinder head. The function of the intake manifold is to direct air through the cylinder head ducts and into the combustion chamber. After the combustion process, the resulting gases must be removed. That's the role played by the exhaust. The exhaust ports are connected to the exhaust manifold to exhaust gases. This prevents an internal pressure build-up that would otherwise lead to an explosion.

Cylinder Head Valves In an engine, valves open and close to allow or block the entry of air and fuel into the combustion chamber. Each cylinder of an internal combustion engine has two valves: the intake valve, which is usually larger, and a smaller exhaust valve. Various components support and control the operation of the cylinder head valves.

Cylinder Head Combustion Chamber

Cylinder Head Parts List is not complete without specifying the combustion chamber. It can be said that this part is the core of the engine. In the combustion chamber of the cylinder head, the fuel-air mixture is burned to produce the power needed to move a vehicle. Combustors take many different shapes and sizes. Depending on engine type and vehicle application. The chamber consists of the cylinder head with its ducts and valves, the cylinder and the cylinder walls, and the piston with its connecting rod

Spark plugs

Spark plugs are found in petrol engines. They transfer electricity to the combustion chamber to ignite the air-fuel mixture. Spark plugs are usually mounted in the cylinder head, with their tips directly into the combustion chamber. To ensure a tight seal, spark plug retainers are usually threaded.

Injection nozzles

You will also find injection nozzles on the cylinder head cover. These are basically valves, but electronically controlled. In a diesel engine, the injectors push the fuel directly into the combustion chamber with the help of the injection pump. Fuel injectors on a gasoline engine use an indirect mechanism to perform the same function.
